On Monday, 8th April, LookUP project celebrated an important event for the tourism sector: the Triple Transition Seminar in the the Spanish city of Zafra.

This gathering, opened by Victoria Bazaga, the advisor for Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports of Junta de Extremadura, aimed to be a space for thinking and learning about innovation, new business ideas, and the best ways to do things in tourism. With over 30 companies from Extremadura taking part, it gave tourist entrepreneurs a chance to learn more about important topics for making tourism sustainable.

There was also a talk about innovation and new business ideas, given by the international consulting company Barrabés.biz, who’s leading the LookUP project. This talk gave attendees an exciting view of how innovation can help tourism grow and compete.

Additionally, there were four examples of good practices presented in a discussion titled ‘Extremadura: sustainable, resilient, and digital’. Four important women from the consulting and tourism world shared their experiences and ideas on how to make tourism in Extremadura more sustainable, resilient, and adapted to today’s digital needs. They were: Ángela Gómez from Incyma, Adelina Pérez from +Magín, Claudia Kelsey from Casa Rural El Recuerdo, and Cristina Fabo from Entre Encinas y Estrellas.

This seminar in Zafra was a big step in the Triple Transition project, which aims to transform the tourism sector to be more sustainable, innovative, and digital. This meeting in Zafra followed on from a first co-innovation event held in December 2023 in Kuusamo, Finland, and came before the third and final meeting in October 2024 in Sibiu, Romania, which will close the project.
