Call for mentors

Would you like to collaborate in a European project of sustainable tourism? Are you passionate about sustainable tourism and want to contribute with your knowledge and expertise? Then this is something for you!

LookUP is an invitation to re-discover the value of the sky as a destination, making this natural resource a critical asset for the sustainable, digital, and resilient transformation of the tourism sector.

LookUP wants to equip SMEs operating in Extremadura (Spain), Kuusamo (Finland) and Transylvania (Romania), with improved skills and kwnoledge to harness digitalisation for their sustainability and resilience. The SMEs are:

  • Related to hospitality and tourism
  • Engaged in activities encompassing skytourism, birdwatching, nature and rural tourism, or other related to rural areas
  • Registered in Finland, Romania and Spain

We are searching for mentors for our acceleration programme to support the enterprises in developing its sustainability strategy and innovation capacity with financial support up to a maximum of 8.800 EUR.

The SME will have access to our database of mentors to select one or more consultants to advise and guide their sustainable and innovation projects to success. The task can be carried out at the tourism SME premises or remotely (online).

The consultancy that SMEs will receive should be in the following windows:

Sustainability

Up to 4,500€ per company for preparations for labels and certifications, environmental assessments and training for workforce.

Innovation

Provide support in the development of a business plan for an innovative idea (Up to 2,500 € per enterprise. Including travel to Extremadura, 1,800 € if the company is registered in Spain).

We are looking for mentors within the following areas:

Sustainability strategy linked to tourism and business development

Internal management and human resources, marketing and communication, stakeholders’ engagement, social inclusion and accessibility, sustainability certificates, access to finance, etc.

Ecological transition

Energy efficiency, renewable energies, waste management and circular economy, etc.

Innovation

Development of innovative ideas, business plans, etc.

Requirements to apply

At least five years of professional experience in one of the fields of competence mentioned, including proven experience in the field of tourism.

A university degree or alternatively, have at least five or more years of professional experience in one of the fields of competence.

Appropriate working knowledge of English (preferable level B1) and at least one of the languages of the project (Spanish, Finnish, Romanian).

Coaching skills: coaching capacity, didactic skills, motivational capacity, organisational skills, good communication and reporting skills.

In your application you must clearly indicate your field or fields of competence from the list of expertise areas and attach a EUROPASS CV, in which the areas of competence and professional experience should be adequately detailed and documented.

In addition, we will need a photo (jpg, 800x800px), link to your LinkedIn profile and a short, informal and attractive statement (maximum 100 words) about your profile to be placed on the website if you are selected.

Application

We will review applications on a rolling basis until the LookUp open call is open (expected during October 2023) and beyond if there is need for additional mentors´profiles. If your profile fulfils our requirements, you will enter our pool of mentors –a shortlist– where SMEs can select them to get support along our LookUp Acceleration Programme or consult them in tasks necessary for the implementation of their sustainability projects.
